Lingering cold symptoms and secondary conditions
In about 25% of people who have colds, symptoms such as a nagging cough can last for several weeks. A smaller percentage develop another illness in addition to the cold, like an ear or sinus infection, bronchitis, or a worsening of their asthma. These illnesses may appear at the same time as the cold, when the cold symptoms are starting to fade, or even after cold symptoms are completely gone.
